Sandra Cairncross (Chair)

Dr. Sandra Cairncross is Assistant Principal Student Experience at Edinburgh Napier University. Prior to appointment as Assistant Principal Student Experience, Dr Cairncross was Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Creative Industries, a post she held for seven years. Sandra brings a wealth of skills in women’s participation in engineering and on improving the learning experience of women in STEM subjects.

Rachel Adamson

Rachel is a Policy and Inclusion Officer at the Scottish Funding Council. She comes with experience of equality and diversity in universities and colleges and has recently been developing the SFC gender action plan.

Shuwanna Aaron

Shuwanna is NUS Scotland’s Women’s Officer and formerly NUS Scotland’s Black Students’ Officer. Her priorities for her year in office are strengthening feminist activity and women’s groups across universities and colleges, tackling gender based violence and championing the needs of student parents.

Mavis Amadi

Mavis Amadi is a chartered engineer, a STEM ambassador and a mentor to young women. She currently works as a Project Controls Engineer at Babcock International and was nominated as one of the top 50 female engineers in the UK in 2016.

Michael Divers

Michael has recently joined Sir Robert McAlpine as their Head of People where he leads on the development of People strategies and polices for the Company. Prior to this Michael was Group HR Director for WYG Group and Managing Director for People Consulting with TMP Worldwide.

Eileen Flanagan

Eileen is part of the Equality Policy Unit of the Scottish Government, she provides a national overview to the group on upcoming Government initiatives and policy areas which Equate Scotland should be involved in, as well as ensuring we are delivering against our funding bid.

Stewart McKinlay

Stewart is Associate Director, Engineering Academy at University of Strathclyde. Having previously worked at SEMTA, Stewart has a wealth of expertise in working directly with employers to improve skills and productivity. His current work is with colleges to support pathways into engineering. His skills in partnership working and knowledge in engineering are of particular benefit to the group.

Scott Reid Skinner

Scott is the Strategy and Policy Development Manager for Equal Opportunities for Scottish Enterprise. He has a wealth of experience in mainstreaming equalities into enterprise and services across Scotland and ensuring that diversity is across all aspects of SE’s work.

Anna Ritchie Allan

Anna is Executive Director at Close the Gap, the national policy and advocacy organisation that works in Scotland on women’s labour market participation. Anna is Chair of the board of the Rape Crisis Centre Glasgow, a member of the Oxfam Scotland Advisory Group, and a member of executive committee of the Scottish Women’s Budget Group. Anna is an expert in women’s economic inequality.

Ceri Shaw

Ceri is a Development Manager in the Sky Platform Operations department. She has over 15 years’ experience in the tech industry across a variety of companies as both a developer and a manager. She also volunteers with Codebar and Women Who Code amongst others.
